Malcolm C. Roberts

Malcolm C. Roberts leads the strategic and operational direction of FM, one of the world’s largest commercial property insurers, covering nearly US$10 trillion in business property in more than 130 countries.
Previously, Roberts served as executive vice president overseeing underwriting and reinsurance, engineering and research, client experience, marketing and sales, claims, strategy, and business enablement and information services at FM.
Prior to that, he was senior vice president, FM Eastern division manager, based in Norwood, Massachusetts, USA, where he managed all client relations, underwriting, engineering, processing and administration for the division.
Earlier roles include vice president, chemical operations manager, where he was responsible for profitability, growth and service for FM-insured locations in the chemical process industry, including petrochemicals, specialty chemicals, alternative fuels and pharmaceuticals.
He also held leadership roles at FM in operations engineering and branch management, including positions in Stockholm, Sweden, and Plano, Texas, USA.
Roberts began his FM career in 1995 as a loss prevention consultant in London after working as a chemical engineer.
Roberts is chairman of FM's board of directors. He also serves on the board of the Partnership for Rhode Island, a nonprofit CEO roundtable dedicated to making Rhode Island a better place to live, work and learn; the Boston Children's Hospital Philanthropic Board of Advisors; and the Boston Common Golf Advisory Board.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honors) degree in chemical engineering from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom.
